The Features of cylindrical roller bearings
Bearing products are commonly used for different types of industrial purposes. Each type is distinct from the other and has a different characteristics and functions to serve. These are one of common and popular types of bearing products mostly used for working with various types of machinery and conveyor belts. As the name suggest, cylindrical roller bearings got their name from their cylindrical shape and are found in different types and sizes. These are known to be stronger than the other common type ball bearings and thus, have higher radial load bearing capacity. Due to this reason, these are more commonly used for heavy duty machinery work as against working with light sports equipment.
The reason behind the higher load bearing capacity of cylindrical bearings is that the rollers and the raceway are placed in a line, which facilitates working with heavy duty machinery and impact loading. The speed is also very high which match their structure while working. Mounting and dismounting of these are also quite easy because of their distinct inner and outer rings.
The primary types of cylindrical bearings include the single row, double row bearings, and full complement cylindrical roller bearings . These types are further divided into sub-categories. The NU and N type under the single row bearings are ideal for side bearings because they can easily be adjusted to the axial movement of the shaft. While the NJ and NF types are capable of carrying the axial load in a single direction, the NUP and NH types can do it both directions.
The ‘R’ type has enhanced features as against the standard bearings despite having similar structural dimensions. However, the inside design of this type is different from the rest. The double row cylindrical bearings are divided in the sub-categories of tapered bore and cylindrical bore. Bearings with lubrication grooves and holes on the outer rings are identified as the type ‘W’. All these are used for heavy duty work and on machine tool spindles.
The full complement cylindrical bearings can also be of single and double row. The radial load carrying capacity and the rigidity level of these types of roller bearings are extremely high. However, unlike the other types, the speed level of this type is not very high. Non-locating, semi-locating, and locating are the three different sub-categories of single and double row full complement cylindrical bearings. These types are commonly used in gear drives, crop shears, rolling mills, and other general machinery industries.
